Our district nursing service provides patient-centred specialist nursing care in the community. This care can be delivered in your home, at school, in your workplace or at a district nursing clinic.
The district nurses provide quality nursing care and education for
- wound care
- ulcer treatment
- Doppler assessment
- continence
- oncology (palliative) care
- respiratory and oxygen maintenance
- stoma management
- ACC nursing services
- Hospital in the Home service
- personal and home care assessment (Tauranga only).

Tauranga clinics are available from Tauranga Hospital, Lexham Park, Katikati and Te Puke Community Centre.
Whakatāne clinics are available from Whakatāne Hospital, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki.
To be seen at any of these clinics you must have an appointment.
You need to be referred to the district nursing service after discharge from hospital, or by your GP or other healthcare professional working in the hospital or community.
