ED is for emergencies

Our Emergency Department (ED) is for emergencies

In a hospital emergency department (ED), every second counts.

We have to be prepared to treat serious life-threatening conditions immediately.

These life-and-death situations cannot wait - which means you might have to.

For life threatening conditions, severe or rapidly worsening symptoms or major injuries:
Call 111 or go to your nearest emergency department (ED):
Tauranga Hospital Whakatāne Hospital
For minor illnesses or injuries:
Visit a walk-in medical centre
For infections or persistent symptoms:
Visit your family doctor (GP) or health clinic
For everyday ailments or symptoms:
Visit your local pharmacy

You might not have to come to ED, but we're here if you need us.

We have a zero-tolerance policy to physical, emotional and verbal abuse. ALL people who demonstrate this behaviour will be asked to leave the premises.
