Leanne - District Nurse
Returning from time spent living in the bustling city of London, Leanne set her sights on the laidback lifestyle that the sunny Bay of Plenty is known for – and it wasn’t long before a job offer from Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty allowed her to settle down and establish a great career.
Leanne’s passion to share knowledge and support the community led to her joining the organisation in 2003. Her colleagues and positive work environment are an important factor for Leanne when it comes to job satisfaction and her long-standing service. Having a supportive and genuine team allows staff to provide the best possible care for patients.
Working closely with the wider team of health professionals is a core aspect of Leanne’s role, this collaboration ensures she can consistently support the patient journey to better health. Providing long-term care for many of her patients, she values the ability to engage directly with both patient and whānau to develop a strong understanding of their needs and create ongoing trust.
Our nurses come from many different background – and it would surprise some to learn that Leanne once owned a backpacker’s accommodation.
Alongside her busy role and family commitments, Leanne also successfully gained a Master of Nursing – one of her highest personal achievements.
Leanne loves the lifestyle that comes with calling the Bay of Plenty home. Her role provides high job satisfaction and outside of work she enjoys the lifestyle – making the most of her access to beautiful beaches, great weather, and a supportive community. Nothing beats living in the Bay!
